The Federal Institute of Paraná (IFPR) is a federal public educational institution under the Ministry of Education (MEC) through the Department of Vocational and Technological Education (SETEC). It is dedicated to free higher education, vocational and professional, specialising in professional and technological of different types and levels of education. The institution was established in December 2008, along 38 other federal institutions, and now has administrative and pedagogical autonomy. About six years after beingintroduced formally, IFPR has 21 campuses throughout the state of Paraná and continues to expand.

Currently, the institution includes more than 23,000 students in the classroom and enrolled in distance education. Besides the regular High School on the Jacarezinho campus, there are also technical courses in Food, Electro mechanics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Dramatic Art. There is about 530 students and 45 teachers in the. The IFPR Jacarezinho is distinct and institutes a management team that truly believes deeply in the transformative potential of their students, and proposes as a result an innovative teaching methodology, which gives young people autonomy and encourages authors while providing a critical view of society.
