The Municipal School Anne Frank is located in the Confisco neighborhood, a community with high social vulnerability in the region of Pampulha, Belo Horizonte (MG). The space was donated by the pediatrician Marx Golgher who, because of his Judaic origins, gave the school the name of Anne Frank. The student’s curiosity about the school’s name origin led to the creation, in 2008, of the Project Anne Frank Alive, that contemplates active research on the history of the Golgher’s family and systematic study of the holocaust. Through these researches, the kids are presented to questions about justice, equality, respect, ethnic and cultural diversity and humans right; and
through the project the students get closer to Anne Frank’s life history, becoming inspired and transposing many of the young Jewish girl’s
experiences to the particularities of their daily lives, often marked by relations of conflict and violence.
